There’s clear differences between the States and the UK, the obvious being the pronunciation of words, i.e. schedule and she-shoo-al. There’s also a different appreciation for pop culture. Whereas the U.S. is more apt to divide across genres, the Brits are more like: this is good and this is bad.

With that said, the annual Mercury Prize Albums of the Year nominations were announced on Thursday (August 4th), with David Bowie earning a posthumous nod for Blackstar.

Drake friend, Skepta, also was nominated for his recent release, Konnichiwa, and Radiohead scored an honor for their A Moon Shaped Pool LP.

Voting is open now (U.K. residents only) and the finalists and winner will be revealed Thursday September 15, at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith.
