Who would’ve thought that upon his prison comeback, Gucci Mane would not only set the streets ablaze with new music, but also spark conspiracy theories, false reports and overflowing rumors.
On Kanye’s “Champions,” Guwop raps: “Now that Gucci’s home, it’s over for you Gucci clones.” The line was surely a clever play on words by Gucci, who aptly sets the stage for, what is sure to be, a successful comeback. However with the way this thing called the internet works, where Jay Z is a living time traveler and 2Pac is out somewhere in Cuba tossing it up, it didn’t take long for the Trap Gawd to earn a placement in the bank of rap conspiracy theories. Per the ‘net, the Gucci Mane we’ve been seeing since his prison release on May 26 is, and please take this with a grain whole cup of salt, a government clone. Keep the cup of sodium close.
This all started after photos surfaced of the rapper when he first came home. Before he went in, the “Lemonade” rapper had a signature belly. When he got back, it was gone. What was once a belly has since been turned to six-pack abs. Then there was word that his famous ice cream face tat disappeared and a satire website published a story purporting that Lil Boosie appeared on The Breakfast Club and flat-out claimed Gucci was cloned. “I rock with Gucci the long way, but that ain’t the real Gucci. We both sitting in the studio and he seemed loose and after his show at Mansion, he called me Herman.” Of course, the last time Boosie appeared on TBC was last year, so again, this news required a cup of salt.
If the slim physique and the rumors about the location of the ice cream face tat (which is still there) weren’t enough, speculators even went as far as poking at Gucci’s now famous bougie accent as proof.
As wild of a story it is, Gucci Mane took heed of the rumors and decided to speak on it. In a vid that has since gone viral, the rapper doesn’t confirm nor deny the speculation, but he did say: “I will neither support or deny those accusations.”
To put it matter of factly, Gucci Mane is not a clone. The ice cream tattoo is still there. He looks happy and recently bought a new mansion. Enjoying the attention, this whole #GucciClone debacle might end up being a Gucci single if it continues to carry on. Not only is Trap God listening, but the industry guys are too.
Stay woke.
