Teyana Taylor goes completely “Unplugged.” In between raising her daughter, the new mom kicks off her latest trek “VII Unplugged Tour,” for a 10 city run through Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York. The tour comes in support of Taylor’s 2014 G.O.O.D. Music debut VII, performing selections “Put You Love On,” “Business” and her new collaboration with Chris Brown “Freak On.”
Stopping in her hometown of New York last week, Taylor paid tribute to the late-icon Prince by including an extended dance break to his classic hit “Kiss,” before bringing out a special guest, her baby daughter Junie.
“Junie is on tour with me,” the singer told REVOLT following her set. “As you can see she steals the whole show and then falls asleep. She’s never impressed, she’s like a little grown person.”
As for balancing music and motherhood, she goes on to explain, “In between the tour we’re working on the new album, there’s no days off. I’m trying to get this album out by the summertime, because it’s time for more music.”
Filling the project with cameos in the later stages of the process, she adds, “right now I don’t have any features besides the Chris Brown record, I’m just trying to vibe out and get these records done.”
