As the Wu-Tang Clan of villains, DC Comic’s Suicide Squad ain’t nothing to mess with.

Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Cara Delevingne join forces as the most dangerous group of supervillians in the upcoming David Ayer-directed film. Based on the eponymous DC Comics team, the film is set for a release on August 5th and most recently drew plenty of chatter surrounding its latest trailer as well as the film’s recent music choices.

In addition to more footage of Harley Quinn (played by Margot Robbie) and Joker (Jared Leto), the new trailer features a glimpse of the caped crusader Batman, who is riding a wave of critical success after Ben Affleck’s gritty portrayal in “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” Batman’s appearance in “Suicide Squad” has since generated several theories regarding his role in the film and whether or not it will be limited.

But as Bruce Wayne’s role remains a target for speculation, not far behind is the rumbling rumors about rap’s favorite supervillian Young Thug securing a spot in the upcoming film’s soundtrack.

The news of the rapper’s purported involvement came from his sister, Dora, who revealed the news on Twitter. Though there is still no confirmation, the rumor is quite interesting since music has played a big role in the last string of “Suicide Squad” trailers. In fact, you can even say music, which has been sort of a grab bag on each teaser, has served like its backbone.

In the July 2015 teaser, which introduced the world to Leto’s wicked Joker, there was sulky cover of Bee Gee’s 1968 song “I Started A Joke.” The second look, released earlier this year, was appropriately soundtracked by Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” one of the greatest rock songs ever. This latest trailer features another cover, this time by Grace and G-Eazy and it’s an interpretation of Lesley Gore’s 1963 song “You Don’t Owe Me”; along with Sweet’s “The Ballroom Blitz.”

With all these songs capturing a sullen, moody tone, it’ll be interesting to see where Young Thug fits the mix. For some reason, the writer hears Thugger’s hook on “Nothing But Net” whenever that thought comes to mind (Hey, it could potentially be the perfect Joker theme song).

Anyhow, Thug is already enjoying quite a successful 2016 with back-to-back impressive drops in I’m Up and Slime Season 3. His debut album Hy!£UN35 is on the way, along with its accompanying tour.

“Suicide Squad,” which recently underwent extensive reshoots, is slated for a August 5.
