Queens is the county, Jamaica is the place, and on April 4th the city will honor a great.
As announced today (April 3), A Tribe Called Quest will pay homage to the late Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor, who passed away last month, with “A Celebration of Phife.” The special celebration will take place on Monday, April 4 at 10:30 a.m. in Queens, New York’s St. Albans Park.
Details are scarce, but according to the event website, the “first 200 fans to arrive will receive something very special!”
The announcement of the celebration comes after several tributes poured in for the late founding member of ATCQ. Last weekend, Q-Tip held a two-hour mix in honor of his late friend, while Busta Rhymes, Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa delivered their own respective tributes in honor of the Five-Foot Assassin.
