While the rest of the music world was locked into Tidal, James Blake premiered a new record on his BBC Radio 1 Show appropriately titled “Modern Soul.” As his third full-length, Radio Silence is still imminent and creeping towards a release, Blake continues to tumble out debuts and his Brit-whit under the umbrella of 1-800-Dinosaur, willingly or not.
The track is a resembling moody discord that finds balance between the hype and chill, with Blake’s stratospheric dubby soul beneath. It’s a stretching lead to his lunar eclipse laced vocals, and a minimal lush groove that we can always count on from the soul-crooner.
“I had no idea of the difference between the way I saw my face and the way it was,” he sings on this newest release, “because of a few songs.”
