Thundercat – “Untitled”

The jazz virtuoso Thundercat has released plenty of records, and not all of it is tied to a new album or EP. Following the UK attacks, he released “Paris” as a tribute to the city, and today, he’s shared an untitled new track. Debuting the standalone track on Australian radio, the squelchy, R&B song is a collaboration with Mono/Poly, which appeared on Thundercat’s 2013 album Apocalypse.

Before playing the new song, Thundercat disclaims, “This song is about having a, basically, when you get stuck, I don’t know, should I just play it?”

A$AP Ferg – “Work” (Remix)

It was only a matter of time before Rihanna’s “Work” single seen a slew of remixes, and the latest comes from A$AP Ferg. After previously releasing his own track titled “Work” in 2013, he gives the dutty-wine record an effortless Trap Lord wash.

“You know I got a thing for a ballerina / Or a thick brown chick built like Serena,” Ferg raps before exclaiming, “No disrespect to Drizzy, bro you my nigga/ Just found an instrumental and I had to kill it.”

Just last week, Ferg liberated an unreleased song from 2011 called “$pice Girls,” before readying his Always Strive and Prosper sophomore LP due out this year. Listen to the snippet below.

Flying Lotus – “R2 Where R U”

As part of the Star Wars Headspace project curated by Rick Rubin, extraordinaire producer Flying Lotus has created a new glitch instrumental called “R2 Where R U?” The track splices in sounds from the iconic droid R2-D2, and switches from jazzy skats and blaring basslines. The title plays on a moment in “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope,” and uses a variety of R2D2 audio samples to fill out the beat. The album, digitally due out February 19, will also feature the likes of Rustie, A-Tral, Baauer, and Shlohmo. Fall into the galactic production below.
