Donald Trump may have won over some artists and celebrities, but Adele is not one of them.
According to a new report by the Independent, Adele is stopping presidential candidate Donald Trump from using her music during his extensive campaign trail. She has made it pretty clear that she does not condone Trump utilizing her music during public appearances, nor has the singer given her permission for the businessman to do so.
“Adele has not given permission for her music to be used for any political campaigning,” a spokesman allegedly told the Independent, despite Trump previously playing a number Adele’s biggest hits during his recent events.
So far, Trump has played Adele’s 2011 multi-platinum hit “Rolling In The Deep,” at a number of campaign trail appearances, as well as using “Skyfall” at a recent event in Ohio. And Adele fans weren’t having it.
Although Adele has not publicly addressed the matter, it gives the false impression that she is connected with or endorses Trump’s presidential bid.
Whereas, REM lead singer Michael Stripe was a little more tongue-and-cheek in a statement after one of his band’s songs were used at a Trump rally without their permission.
“Go fuck yourselves, the lot of you — you sad, attention-grabbing, power-hungry little men. Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign.” Yikes.
Tread lightly Trump.
