The comedian and co-creator of Chappelle’s Show, Neal Brennan, is ready for the New York City stage.
Brennan will make his NYC theatrical debut with his new show 3 Mics, with the help and production of soul-crooner John Legend and his Get Lifted partners Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorious have signed on to produce the limited engagement series. Directed by Drew Barr, 3 Mics will see Brennan alternating between three separate microphones, giving a voice behind the various scenarios of life. The first microphone is marked by his satire take on race, gender, and acclaimed heroes. The second, will be a punch to his one-liners he’s capitalized on over the years, while the third stands behind personal struggles.
“To be on Broadway is a dream come true. Brando, Lansbury, Vereen… you name ’em, they played here,” said Brennan in a statement, moments before told he is playing Bleecker Street. “Like I said, Bleecker Street is a fantastic street. There used to be a Kim’s Video down there and it was wonderful.”
3 Mics, which has already gained the co-sign from Dave Chappelle and John Mulaney, joins the slate of projects from Legend’s production team, including Obama’s first-date narrative Southside With You.
The show begins previews on Feb. 23 before a March 3 opening night at the Lynn Redgrave Theater in NYC.
