The People’s Choice Awards is a show by the people for the people—and this year the people sure took the reigns, or at least one particular fan did.
Last night (January 6) as hosts of U.S. television show The Talk were on stage accepting their award for Favorite Daytime TV Hosting Team, a man by the name of Zacari Nicasio took to the LA Microsoft Theater stage to quote a Kanye line and shout out Kevin Gates.
“Yeezy jumped over the Jumpman,” he said before literally getting kicked off by Sharon Osbourne. But the highlights of the night included more than that Kanye-esque moment, of course.
Taylor Swift was, per usual, the big winner in music, picking up Favorite Female Artist and beating Ed Sheeran (who won Favorite Male Artist) for Favorite Pop Artist.
Canadian singer/songwriter Shawn Menddes took home the Favorite Breakout Artist award besting Fetty Wap, Halsey, Tori Kelly and The Weeknd; Abel, however, won Favorite R&B Artist.
Meanwhile, in the hip-hop world, Nicki Minaj continues to reign as she took home Favorite Hip-Hop Artist against her contenders, which included Drake, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar and Wiz Khalifa.
The big win in music went to Madonna, who took home the award for Favorite Music Icon.
