It’s as if we back-tracked to the late ‘90s when R&B singer Brandy was sittin’ on top of the world and known on-screen as Moesha.
After starring in the Broadway production Chicago last year, the “Boy Is Mine” singer is having a full first week of 2016. Shortly after the premiere of her new BET sitcom Zoe After Ever last night, Brandy teased what might be the makings of her seventh album with her first new solo song in years. Titled “Beggin & Pleadin,” the bluesy number is grounded in heavy bass with a partial pop of gospel and a modern trap flare. Produced by Pop & Oak, the song is a stretch from Brandy’s R&B leaning ballads, yet still a one-off jam to reintroduce herself.
Sharing a note on her Facebook, she says, “As I grew through the subject matter of this song, I realized that I needed ME to forgive me for not believing what I felt!”
Listen to “Beggin & Pleadin” below and tune in to BET Tuesday nights to catch Zoe After Ever.
