Gucci Mane’s release from prison has drawn the attention of fans this week when an Instagram account related to the rapper’s label posted a picture with a caption claiming he was set to be free in March of this new year.

However, an inmate lookup reveals Gucci is set to remain in prison until 2017. A call made by REVOLT to Indiana’s Terre Haute federal prison confirmed the Atlanta rap star is scheduled to be released March 6, 2017. In the wake of the IG posting, several media outlets have reported on the 2017 date citing the online inmate lookup system.

Back in August of 2014, Gucci Mane was sentenced to 39 months in prison on gun charges, of which he had already served 28 months. In addition, he was later sentenced to three years prison on unrelated assault charges, which were to run concurrent with his federal sentencing.

As of press time, representatives for Gucci Mane have yet to issue a statement on his prison release date.
