We’ve heard more new music from Toro Y Moi this year than with his past project’s combined. With the release of his fourth studio album What For? earlier this year and his surprise released Samantha, a 20-track mixtape featuring collaborations with Washed Out, Kool A.D. and Nosaj Thing, the synth-pop maestro continues to gift fans even more with the release of four new unreleased recordings.
Uploading the reggae and rap-infused song fragments to his SoundCloud, the collection of tracks were tagged “rare,” as they are most likely older material from Chaz Bundick’s earlier sound. This marks the third shift of sonic style we’ve heard from him this year alone, between Les Sins and his ‘70s groove-pocket.
Even though the new tracks have surfaced as a set, “3-4-12b” and “4-5-12b” were put out alongside “Lyin (Pt. 1-4),” a single that appeared on his 2013 split 7-inch with Dog Bite.
