Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter The-Dream, took to Instagram to announce the release of IAMSAM, a Sam Cooke covers album. The eight-track album, which is dedicated to the 23^rd anniversary of his mother’s passing, was secretly recored in 2010 while working on Beyoncé’s 4 LP.

“My Mother loved a lot of artists growing up,” The-Dream said on his Instagram post. “But the one we shared the most interest in together was Sam Cooke, so tonight, I give him back to her.”

Covering heartwarming renditions of hits like “Cupid” and “A Change Is Gonna Come,” the project is a reflective spectrum of The-Dream’s multidimensional work of producing to vocally trained ballads.
