It’s no surprise Chance the Rapper’s talent runs in the family. Chicago-based rapper and Chance’s younger brother, Taylor Bennett, is currently working on an album called Broad Shoulders, and today he shares the title track. Following up the exuberant video for single “Happy Place,” Bennett debuts his first collaboration with Chance, as the two brothers exchange verses about family and growing up.
“It’s different having a sibling in the entertainment business,” Bennett tells Rolling Stone. “My thing with my brother is that he always wanted me to work on myself and create my own name before we got to work together. He always knew that I was great enough to get a fanbase and sell out shows and get a lot of views. It’s a very meaningful song to our family and our next generation. Chance is now a father, and in the third verse, I speak about my niece — his daughter — so it’s a really emotional and compassionate song.”
And Chance speaks just as highly of his brother’s work, as he replied, “I’m so ready for Tay’s new project. It’s raw to watch him mature as an artist and a man. He put everything into this one.”
Broad Shoulders will feature collaborations with Donnie Trumpet, King Louie, Joey Purp, and others.
