The Mad Decent Boat Party has been cancelled and the ship will be turning back to Miami, according to social media dispatches.
The news comes hours after a passenger jumped overboard and a search for her body came up empty.
Made Decent issued a statement over the matter, which the called “difficult” and “ongoing” as rescue workers continue to search for the missing woman.
“Thursday, November 12 during the chartered cruise on Norwegian Pearl, a female guest was observed intentionally going overboard while the ship was sailing the Yucatan Channel,” the statement read. “The ship’s crew immediately initiated rescue measures, including deploying three rescue boats and notifying the Coast Guard and other relevant authorities. The search for the guest is ongoing. Both the ship and charter company teams are providing support to the family and all impacted guests during this difficult time.”
Passengers appear to be torn about the incident, as the woman willing jumped and also was a noted person, reportedly having been married on the ship last cruise.
According to reports, the ship was bound for Cozumel when a woman jumped overboard after dancing. It’s unclear if the party will continue once the ship is docked. It’s been suggested Major Lazer and Dillon Francis would perform once the boat returns back to Miami.
