Quentin Tarantino is undef fire for controversial statements he made about police recently, but being in hot water isn’t new for the director.

Over the years, Tarantino has been challenged by Spike Lee, among others, for the use of the N-word in his films, where he writes all the of the dialogue his characters read.

The director has defended his use of language as authentic to his story, but Jamie Foxx took it a step further. The actor, who starred in Tarantino’s “Django,” explained the “vision” behind the language choice.

“‘When I was a kid my mom dated black guys, so the black guys would come in and see me and want to get in good with me so they would take me out’,” Foxx told Snoop Dogg about Tarantino on the premiere episode of GGN, which debuts on REVOLT tonight (November 11). “They would take me to blaxplotation films, so my whole life I grew up watching those films, so it didn’t seem like it wasn’t organic for me to do this’.”

Foxx said he and the director didn’t discuss the criticism behind the use, however, he did say he understood where Tarantino was coming from.
