Rashad Owens was found guilty of capital murder on Friday (November 6) a year and a half after he killed four people in a car accident outside of SXSW.

A jury found that Owens, 23, “intentionally or knowingly” was aware of his actions when he drove his car into a crowd on Red River street, where he also injured more than 20 festival goers.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, Owens is facing life in prison with his conviction. Prosecutors alleged Owens was aware of his conduct when he drove his vehicle down the wrong way of the street with his headlights off, before he sped past a barricade that was closed to traffic. In addition to capital murder, the 23-year-old was facing four counts of felony murder.
