Last week, ABC Family (or Freeform, when 2016 arrives) announced plans for an upcoming sitcom with Nicki Minaj, based on the superstar’s life. Now, it appears that Bruno Mars will be the next pop star venturing into the television series route.

Nicki Minaj To Star In, Executive Produce ABC Family Comedy Series

According to Deadline, NBC has tapped Bruno Mars and Empire executive producer Brian Grazer to produce a “single-camera family comedy” that is to involve music elements. Written by Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Prentice Penny, the comedy will follow “a loud, boisterous and quarrelsome family from the Bronx and what happens when they take in their wide-eyed, hopelessly optimistic 10 year-old nephew.”

The series will not be based on Mar’s life, but will incorporate some of the singer’s story as inspiration. Stay tuned for more information.
