Lily Allen has contributed a pair of new songs to the Peter Pan prequel, “Pan.” After premiering in London last month, Allen shares her collaboration with Keane’s Tim Rice-Oxley for the tracks “Something’s Not Right” and “Little Soldier.” The first number, “Something’s Not Right,” is an uplifting ballad, presumably to score the melodramatic scenes, while “Little Soldier” is an upbeat, low-key vibe that focuses on Allen’s lush pop sensibility.
“Go watch Pan movie. Myself and the king of physical comedy Tim Rice-Oxley wrote some songs for it and they’re in it,” Allen tweeted.
Directed by Joe Wright, the nostalgic film also features a score by Academy Award-nominated composer John Powell, and stars Hugh Jackman, Rooney Mara and Cara Delevingne.
The new tracks come as Allen is also reportedly working on her follow-up to the 2014 LP Sheezus, which includes the previously released titled preview “You’re Onto Me.” Allen has been vocal about fulfilling her obligation to her recording contract, so she can get out of the deal as soon as possible.
“I just want to get it done as quickly as possible so I can get out of my deal,” Allen told Rolling Stone last year. “It might be one and a greatest hits. That’s not because I want off my label. I just want to have more control. I want to put things out in the way that I want. I feel like I know my fanbase better than they know my fanbase. I communicate with them every day. I set it up on Myspace. I saw how it evolved and how it worked. I wish they would let me do it in my way.”
