Zendaya is being honored in a major way this month.

After receiving shade for her dreadlocks on the 2015 Oscars red carpet, Mattel has recreated the singer/actresses’ iconic look as a specialty doll.

Zendaya shared the photos of her Barbie on Instagram over the weekend, dressed in a replica of Zendaya’s Vivienne Westwood gown worn her famous/infamous dreadlocks. The doll was displayed at the Barbie Rock ‘N Royals Concert Experience in Los Angeles on Saturday night (September 26).

“When I was little I couldn’t find a Barbie that looked like me,” she wrote to her followers. “My… how times have changed. Thank you @barbie for this honor and for allowing me to be a part of your diversification and expansion of the definition of beauty.”

Many stars reached out to Zendaya to congratulate her, including a fellow Barbie: Nicki Minaj.

“Congrats on your doll, Zendaya,” Minaj wrote on Instagram. “Did u know Barbie made me one a cpl years back? It was such an honor & HUGE surprise. Anyway, I love you doll’s hair! I love what it means for other little girls who will identify with it & be empowered. Continue to be proud of yourself girls!! #Barbie.”

Sounded sincere, right? Well, not so much to Zendaya’s fans, and they had no problem letting Minaj know it. Flooding the comments and timeline in Zendaya’s defense, fans quickly noted it was not Minaj’s moment and that she should have left it at a simple “congratulations.” Yikes.

Zendaya replied on Twitter to say, “Representation is important.”Whether it was a sub or not, it definitely wasn’t a “thank you.”

Regardless, it’s a milestone, if any, to have any woman of color honored by such a staple brand, and more so, one that has came along way from their blonde haired, blue eyed doll. Congrats to Zendaya.
