Ciara is channeling 2001 Mary J. Blige and saying no to the drama.
With a healthy son, an album released earlier this year, and a superstar quarterback boyfriend, she should have no worries.
Enter Ciara’s ex-fiance and father to her son: Future, adding some Dirty Sprite to the mix.
A few weeks back Future slammed Ciara in a Breakfast Club interview for allowing her current boyfriend—Russell Wilson—to spend so much time around baby Future. The ATL rapper said, “You never do that in our community.”
But today (August 19) that changes. Ciara stopped by CBS’s This Morning to fight back to the public criticism with some powerful words.
When asked about Future’s backlash, in a way that only Gayle King could pull off, Ciara responded, “It’s a bit of a double standard. When we were together, I took care of his kids as well at a very young time in our relationship.”
Future has fathered four biological children, including Ciara’s 1-year-old son, and adopted one child.
The R&B superstar added, “That’s been a big conversation, like, ‘What’s the difference here?’ I think that even for the men that are outspoken—wouldn’t you want someone to love on your child? Or love on the child you’re speaking about?”
Ciara added that she did reach out to Future in hopes that he and Russell would speak to one another, but Future refused.
