Young Thug made sure his “Saturday Night Live” debut was memorable. On Saturday (Oct. 17), Thugger blessed viewers with two performances of songs off his latest album Punk. He also brought a few special guests along with him. Draped in a pink cheetah print jacket with matching leather pink pants, Thug performed his single “Tick Tock” with Travis Barker drumming away in the background.
Tick tock, tick tock, ten shots to your side like tick tock (tick tock)/When I bow down to my bitch, it come with a big rock (big rock),” Thug rapped into a diamond embezzled pink microphone. The Young Stoner Life Records founder slowed things down the second time he hit the “SNL” stage. He switched outfits and put on his hot pink fur coat to perform his “Love You More” ballad alongside Nate Ruess and Gunna.
Hopefully, next time he visits “SNL” Thugger will get to show off his acting chops. In the meantime, the rapper born Jeffery Lamar Williams, is promoting his second studio album Punk. Thug dropped his latest offering Friday (Oct. 15) and it features 20 tracks. Travis Scott, Post Malone, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Gunna, Future, Doja Cat, J. Cole, and posthumous verses from Juice Wrld and Mac Miller appear on the album. It boasts a bevy of beats by Kanye West, Metro Boomin, Cardo, T-Minus and Pi’erre Bourne, among others.
In a recent interview with Complex, Thug spoke about his decision to focus on his storytelling on Punk. “I usually don’t show emotion, which is why my storytelling songs be so hard,” he told the outlet. “Y’all usually don’t see nothing from me, so when you hear a song that’s really serious, you’re like, ‘Oh my fucking God.’ You remember a nigga human… Punk is just real-life stories. The whole album is purified. It’s just real.”
