Ice Cube is calling on Hollywood to make amends for the many years of mistreatment against Black people. The Friday creator took to Twitter to share a 22-page document titled “A Contract With Black America” which addresses police brutality, finance reform, the entertainment industry and more.

“This is an updated version of A CONTRACT WITH BLACK AMERICA,” he tweeted, along with a link to the document. “We’ve been working with a lot of experts and great people during these last few weeks. The document is much stronger and much more detailed. We will continue towards perfection.”

In a recent interview with “The Breakfast Club,” Cube spoke about a few subjects the contract, which Cube says is unfinished, touched on.

“Virtually all the studios that contributed in our narrative, in our pain in our misrepresentation, and stealing our history and giving it to white people for over 100 years,” he said. “I think these studios that we know and love should kick in to a studio that’s run by Black people with no outside influences and whose movies and projects are owned by those Black people, those Black artists and directors and writers and people who put the project together should own the projects.”

He added: “I just think it’s a form of reparations from the entertainment industry if they all had to invest a certain amount of money into the studio each year as payment for all the damage they’ve done to Black people.”

The “It Was A Good Day” MC also praised Tyler Perry for building his own studio after he was “ignored in Hollywood.” Cube said he was “extremely proud” of what Perry had done, but pointed out that he had to do it with his own money.

“There needs to be a place where Hollywood pays for what they’ve done to our people because cops learn how to kick our ass watching TV when they’re little,” he continued. “That’s where they learn it. Then they grow up and become cops and they’re like, ‘Look, I saw this on ‘NYPD Blue’ so that’s how you do it.’”

Cube will take his contract to other experts and once it’s perfected, he will take it to Democrat and Republican leaders. Check out the interview below.
