Earlier this week, over 500,000 people signed a petition to reopen the case into Tamla Horsford’s death. The 40-year-old African American woman was found dead in a backyard in 2018, after attending a sleepover party with seven white women. Despite her death being ruled accidental, Horsford’s family’s attorney Ralph Fernandez recently revealed that new evidence “reflects that homicide is a strong possibility.” Now, T.I., 50 Cent and more are demanding that her case be reopened.
Taking to Instagram, both Tip and 50 shared a photo from the sleepover, showing Horsford and the other women who attended.
“Tamla Horsford was murdered while she attended a sleep over with 7 white women,” the post reads. “She was beaten and thrown off a balcony. This was the LAST Picture she took before her death. Did anyone forget this? #BlackLivesMatter.”
50 captioned the post, “Where is the investigation on this one? SMH.”
T.I. added, “FYI.”
Fernandez revealed the case’s new evidence in a tweet on Saturday (June 6).
“It appears Tamla was involved in a struggle. There were abrasions consistent with that scenario. There were parallel scratches to one arm,” Fernandez wrote in a letter. “Since they were fresh, photos would not have proven recent use of defensive force. There was one X-ray, yet the injury noted as the cause of death appears nowhere.”
“Witness statements are in conflict,” his letter continued. “A potential subject handled the body as well as the evidence prior to law enforcement arriving. Evidence was disposed of and no inquiry followed. The scene was not preserved. A remarkable fact is that there were no photographs taken during the autopsy of Tamla’s body. This had to have been done at someone’s directive because such a practice is unheard of.”
Some of the women who attended the party reportedly had ties with law enforcement. Additionally, Horsford’s friend Michelle Graves has been outspoken in alleging that her death was not an accident.
