On Sunday (May 31), Yasmine Jackson — Joe Jackson’s granddaughter and Michael Jackson’s niece — was allegedly stabbed several times by a woman in a racist assault. Jackson, who works as a nurse in Las Vegas, shared images of her sustained injuries on Instagram.
“I was stabbed 7 times right by my house because ‘I’m a ni**er,’” she wrote. “This woman chased me down and started stabbing me. She said it’s because I was a ni**er and that’s all I could hear while I was being stabbed. I can’t move my neck at all. I’m scared to be alone. I asked people to help me because she was stabbing me and nobody helped.”
According to her post, Jackson’s alleged assailant has been arrested by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and charged with attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon and committing a hate crime. She asked civil rights activist Shaun King to help her bring the woman to justice and announced that the preliminary court hearing will be held later this month.
“I pray to God that if you have any kind of hatred in your heart towards black people that you heal it,” she wrote in her post. “I didn’t deserve this, nobody does.”
Jackson also launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover her legal costs and other expenses as she takes the woman to court.
“I had never seen this lady before the incident,” she wrote on the GoFundMe page. “My friend and I were outside having a conversation when out of nowhere she ran down a couple flights of stairs then jumped down from the second floor and jumped over fence. She then started chasing us down the street.”
“This incident has left me extremely traumatized and I plan on breaking my lease and moving out of those apartments until I’m mentally prepared enough to move on my own again,” Jackson continued. “Now I want to focus on bringing this lady to justice.”
Jackson’s mother Joh’Vonie also wrote about the incident on Instagram.
“Look what this Woman did to my daughter [Yasmine],” Joh’Vonie wrote. “She tried to kill my daughter for being Black… Fu*k anyone who has enough hate in their heart to want to do this to anyone!”
