Boosie Badazz is sharing his thoughts on the current climate of the world following the killing of George Floyd. In a recent interview with “This Past Weekend” podcast, the Baton Rouge native opened up about the protests, police brutality and wanting reparations for Black people.
“I think it’s all well-deserved,” the “Wipe Me Down” rapper said about the protesting and looting. Boosie then spoke about the police killing Black men “It been going on. It’s just now we got ‘em. As soon as something happened, it get out. If they didn’t have those cameras— those phones— it blessed us — now they see what they’ve been doing for twenty-five years.”
“People tired of being at home. Our President’s crazy, it wasn’t the time for this. Especially for Black people,” he continued. “Black people should be paid, like the Indians, our race been through more shit than anybody. Why hasn’t any President said, ‘Why aren’t the Black Americans compensated?’ We was hanged, our wealth was stolen from us— millions, kids are dying today. Black families should be compensated, why no motherfucking President said it, not even Obama.”
Boosie joins the growing lists of celebrities who have used their platforms to speak out about what’s going on in America. Big Sean recently took to social media to open up about how this country has a long history of discrimination and racism.
“Our ancestors built this country for free, OK?” the “Bounce Back” rapper said. “So, I’m just talking from the heart right now, but one of my biggest issues is that…this current government and country, is built on a racist foundation. A lot of us know this. You want to talk about systemic oppression, you want to talk about the justice system being targeted to people that look like me.”
“And it’s impossible to get out of once you in there, you know?…Some of the first police forces ever was made during slavery, down south, in them southern states,” he continued. “And their main focus was to capture, apprehend, beat, discipline slaves, rip them apart from their families, keep them apart and God knows whatever else.”
