Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have announced the next Verzuz battle and they are taking it all the way back to New York. Jadakiss and Fabolous are set to go head-to-head in the popular Instagram Live battle on Monday (June 29) at 8 pm ET.
“Back in the Zone this Monday @jadakiss vs @myfabolouslife @verzuztv live & @appletv for HD,” Swizz wrote on Instagram. “Drinks by @CIROC! @timbaland paperwork is in!!!!!!!!”
Fabolous has many hits under his belt such as “Make Me Better,” “Into You,” “Breathe,” “She Wildin,’” “Can’t Let You Go,” and “Young’n.” The Brooklyn native has been nominated for three Grammy awards over the span of his career.
Jadakiss, on the other hand, has a long list of hit tracks as well such as “We Gonna Make It,” “U Make Me Wanna,” “Who’s Real, “Why” and “Knock Yourself Out.” He recently released his fifth studio album Ignatius in March and the LP grabbed a top 40 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. In 2004, he was nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for his hit single “Why.”
The two MCs released their joint project Friday On Elm Street back in 2017. The LP included the lead single “Stand Up” which featured Future. Fab described the theme for the album in an interview with HipHopDX. “…Jason, you knew he was killer,” he said. “You knew his work and you knew what he do. Freddy was a killer and he might be a little more witty, cause he talk more. The Jason character didn’t really say much, but you knew he was there. You can’t even escape it. Once you heard those footsteps, you knew he was in the area. There’s a lot of comparisons when you want to compare to things, but that was one of the ones we were looking at with Freddy vs. Jason. When it came to villains, they were always the two that were brought up.”
On Juneteenth, Alicia Keys and John Legend battled it out for the popular series. Their battle brought in over 750,000 views through Instagram and Apple TV. Keys closed out the show with her new release “Perfect Way To Die.” The track addresses police brutality and racial injustice in the United States. The Instagram Live comments filled with the name of Black victims who were killed in racial violence such as Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd.
