Celebrate Juneteenth with REVOLT and the NAACP. On Friday (June 19), the two companies will join forces to present a virtual “Juneteenth Black Family Reunion” from 4 p.m. ET to 7 p.m. ET. Viewers will be able to partake in the festivities on REVOLT’s channel, REVOLT’s Youtube and the NAACP’s YouTube.
The special event is being hosted by “Entertainment Tonight” anchor Nischelle Turner, and will include a number of very exciting guest speakers and performers. The “Juneteenth Black Family Reunion” will also consist of different segments, which will all be sure to keep watchers entertained from beginning to end. After a pre-show with DJ Mal-ski on the 1’s and 2’s, some prominent speakers who’ll converse with Turner about Black affairs are Leon W. Russell, Chairman from the NAACP National Board of Directors; Derrick Johnson, President & CEO of NAACP; and Bishop T.D. Jakes.
Then, a discussion on the current issues the Black community is facing will commence. This will consist of breaking down social media moments regarding social injustices that have been brought to light recently such as George Floyd’s killing and much more. The name of that convo will be “#WeAreDoneDying.”
From there, viewers will witness performances from the likes of Mykal Kilgore, Maranda Curtis, Kierra Sheard, and Captain Kirk Douglas. Messages from celebrities like Whoopi Goldberg, Jenifer Lewis, Bill Bellamy, Deon Cole, J. August Richards, Ledisi, Rahne Jones, Jonathyn Adams and more will also be aired.
The celebration will close with a town hall that will be moderated by Angela Rye and feature panelist Cari Chapman.
Juneteenth is a very special day for the African-American community. On June 19, 1865; Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas and told the last remaining Confederate sympathizers, who had no idea at the time, that they were free and the north won the Civil War. On such a day, REVOLT is more than proud to celebrate with our people.
