The next Instagram Live beat battle has been set: T-Pain and Scott Storch are set to face off tonight (April 1) at 8 pm (EST). Timbaland and Swizz Beats, who orchestrated the inaugural virtual beat battle last week and have since recruited fellow producers to compete, have called upon T-Pain and Scott — and they accepted.
“I just got the call from Timb and Swizz. Paper work is in. It’s going down,” Scott said on Tuesday (March 31). “Yo Pain, I know you got some sh*t. I know you got some fire. But I got fire, too.”
“You know folks, sometimes a challenge comes into your house and you gotta accept,” T-Pain responded. “Swizz hit me. Timbo hit me. And this is happening… It’s gonna be a lotta hits.”
“Scott, you don’t want the smoke,” he added. “You better get ready, buddy.”
However, T-Pain later joked on Twitter that Scott would likely “curb stomp” him.
“Win or lose I’m honored to be apart of the biggest thing happening right now,” he wrote. “Tune in and celebrate music history wit us! Sh*t gon be fun regardless.”
Although artists’ tours and music festival appearances have been canceled due to the pandemic, many have sought out new ways to connect with their fans, like the recent wave of Instagram Live performances. DJ D-Nice attracted a star-studded viewer list to his “Club Quarantine” earlier this month, which was followed by a series of live-streamed battles between the likes of Ne-Yo and Johntá Austin, The-Dream and Sean Garrett, Hit-Boy and Boi-1da and more.
Furthermore, several artists have opened up their homes for virtual performances, including Erykah Badu, Swae Lee, Jennifer Hudson, Chloe x Halle, Miguel and John Legend.
Last night, Tory Lanez made Instagram history when his “Quarantine Radio” live-stream gained over 310,000 views. Of course, the numbers were boosted by Drake, who appeared as a guest on Tory’s virtual show.
