An Arkansas man received a racist letter in the mail from someone who is upset that he has Black Santas decoration in his yard.

According to THV11, Chris Kennedy has resided at his home in North Little Rock for the past three years. “I started to read and of course the first word that sticks out is ‘Negro,’” he said. The letter, which was obtained by the outlet, called for Kennedy to remove the Black Santa Claus from his front yard.

“Please remove your Negro Santa Clause yard decoration,” read the letter. “You should not try to deceive children into believing that I am a Negro. I am a Caucasian white man to you and have been for the past 600 years.”

“Your being jealous of my race is no excuse for your dishonesty. Besides that, you are making yourself the laughing stock of the neighborhood,” the letter concluded. Kennedy says the envelope also included a photo of a white Santa giving a thumbs down.

The mail, which was sent via USPS, was postmarked from the Lakewood Property Owners Association (LPOA). They have since denied their involvement with the notice. Evan Blake, the LPOA executive director, offered Kennedy a membership and said they want whoever sent the letter out of the neighborhood. “We don’t want the people [who] wrote that letter in the neighborhood. That’s what we don’t want,” Blake said.

Other neighbors have been rallying around Kennedy and showing their support for him and his decorations. “Our neighbors have been awesome. People have dropped off cookies and notes and I’ve gotten messages from Facebook,” he said.

“If I’m a laughing stock by trying to provide joy to other families’ children down the street going to school by having out a Santa Claus and decorating for Christmas, so be it,” Kennedy added.
