Lizzo poked fun at Vice President Mike Pence with her Halloween costume. The singer took aim at the politician by dressing up as a fly, inspired by the moment an insect landed on the politician’s head at the vice presidential debate earlier this month.
The “Good As Hell” singer showed off her costume with posts on Instagram on Saturday (Oct. 31). She got creative and wore a one-piece ensemble with wings and big bug eyes on top of her head. The “Truth Hurts” songstress then photoshopped the photo on top of the vice president’s head.
She also shared a video of her dancing with a backdrop of the moment the fly landed on Pence’s head. “Aaaaand we just gettin started. #halloween2020,” she captioned the video.
As millions of people tuned in to the first and only 2020 vice presidential debate between Sen. Kamala Harris and Vice President Mike Pence on Oct. 7, viewers were distracted when a fly landed and stayed on top of Pence’s head. People took to social media to react to the infamous fly by creating memes and jokes and it quickly became one of the most talked about moment from the night.
Whoopi Goldberg asked Harris about the fly during an interview on “The View.” “I have to ask you this question, Kamala. And it’s as silly as it gets, but it’s my favorite,” Goldberg said. “So you’re sitting, and you’re having this debate, and you look over, and you see the fly circling. Do you first think to yourself, ‘Uh-oh. I see it. Do I tell him, or do I finish making my point?’”
The actress added: “Did you see the fly first or did you discover it later? That’s my question.”
The vice presidential hopeful laughed at the question and responded: “Oh, Whoopi. Let me just say that I think we should get beyond the fly and fly away from this subject and move on.”
“But I appreciate the question,” she added at the time.
