Rihanna might be giving her fans what they’ve been asking for.
According to HipHopDx, multiple French outlets covering Universal Music France’s Open Session event reported that Universal revealed that Rih will be dropping her ninth studio album in December.
Last year, she told a fan that the album would drop in 2019 when asked on Instagram.
Rihanna has been mum about the details regarding her next album, but she did reveal that she is ready to drop new music. She told Interview Magazine back in June, “It really does suck that it can’t just come out because I’m working on a really fun one right now. I’m really happy with a lot of the material we have so far, but I am not going to put it out until it’s complete. It makes no sense to rush it, but I want it out. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m like, ‘Even if I don’t have the time to shoot videos, I’m going to put an album out.’”
Rih’s last album, ANTI, was released in 2016. ANTI peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. It was also certified triple platinum by the RIAA.
Despite Rihanna’s absence from the music game, she has maintained her momentum in other areas. She released her Fenty clothing brand under the LVMH fashion house back in June. The line consisted of ready-to-wear clothing, accessories, sunglasses and jewelry.
“Designing a line like this with LVMH is an incredibly special moment for us. Mr Arnault has given me a unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector, with no artistic limits,” she told Business of Fashion at the time.
Rihanna’s brand makes her the first black woman under the LVMH umbrella. She is also the first woman to launch an original brand with the fashion house. Rih debuted her collection on May 24 in Paris.
