R. Kelly’s alleged girlfriends, Jocelyn Savage and Azriel Clary, continue to offer their support towards the singer during a rather difficult time.
According to a new report from TMZ, Savage and Clary are looking into projects that offer a big payoff including a potential book deal. If the two are able to secure the book deal, the ladies plan to use the funds to help with Kelly’s money issues. In addition to that, the news outlet also reports that Savage and Clary are trying to nail paid interviews.
It makes sense as to why the ladies are hustling hard. Recently, we reported that Kelly was looking to add a new addition to his defense team. Last month, Kelly met with Tom Mesereau for a four-hour meeting. Mesereau is a well-known defense attorney. In the past, Mesereau has worked on Michael Jackson’s 2005 court case and also scored a not guilty verdict for an accused wife murderer, Robert Blake.
As Kelly takes a current look at his defense team, the 52-year-old musician is not pleased with how his case is being handled. Kelly stated that members of his team are focused on the media attention. Steve Greenberg, Kelly’s attorney, spoke with The Chicago Sun-Times to explain that his client has had a difficult time being locked up.
“He’s also a spiritual guy, has a Bible with him in his cell, but he can’t read it. It’s basically there for comfort,” Greenberg added. “Now he’s been placed in the MCC’s ‘SHU’ — a cell in solitary confinement away from the jail population and is constantly being moved from cell to cell. He has only the guards to talk to.”
Although there were several reports that Kelly was in solitary confinement, The Chicago Tribute clarified that the singer has had a cellmate for quite some time.
