For someone to have longevity in hip-hop for over a decade is a major accomplishment. While posting to Twitter on Sunday (Sept. 15), Kid Cudi reflected on this latest execution.

”10 years!!! Here we are!! @DotDaGenius @plainpat @EmileHaynie,” he wrote. ”I LOVE YALL!!! Couldn’t have done it with out my brothers by my side!!! We made history and inspired so many. We did what we came to do and still do today!! God is sooo good!”

In addition to that, Cudi thanked his fans for taking the time to listen to his debut project. “If you ever bumped this album and embraced me for being me, I thank you! Made me not feel so alone in the world.” He added, “Life is wild man.”

Following his tweets, Cudi’s fans showed an outpour of love. “10 years and look at all the love this album is getting,” one user wrote. “@KidCudi, Man on the Moon is truly a timeless classic, and it is such an inspirational and amazing album. 20 years from now, we’ll STILL be talking about it. Timeless. Classic.”

Throughout Cudi’s career, his impact has been undeniable. Back in 2018, Kanye West released a joint album with the Cleveland native, Kids See Ghosts. In the past, ‘Ye has shared how working with Cudi has changed his perspective.

“When I first heard Cudi, his voice, his melody, his subject matter, and the combination of him putting the melody with the rap in a way that I hadn’t really heard since Bone Thugs felt really new. When I heard his mixtape, I said I wanted to write with him.”

He added, “I remember working on 808s & Heartbreak and he was sitting in the front area in the Hawaii studio. I was on the laptop, and he was like, ‘OK, this is what I got… In the night I hear them talk.’ It went somewhere else and, of course, I put the pop—‘the coldest story ever told,’ which [came] from me listening to country music and Coldplay. How that happened is how we’ve written music together over the years.”
