Offset sees big things in his wife’s future.
Cardi B has made her movie debut in Hustlers, which hit theaters on Friday (Sept. 13). Although film is still garnering reviews, Offset was asked about the Oscar buzz surrounding the movie. Entertainment Tonight caught up with Offset at Rihanna’s Diamond Ball on Thursday (Sept. 12) and asked the rapper about his wife being in a film that has Oscar nomination potential. He told the outlet, “I haven’t heard that. That’s crazy.”
Offset added, “I can see it. It’s on the way.”
According to Rap-Up, in the film, Cardi plays the role of Diamond who is a dancer from the Bronx and works at the same NYC club as Jennifer Lopez.
During an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” JLo spoke on working with Cardi in Hustlers and said that she’s a “natural.” “She’s such a natural at what she does,” Lopez said. “This was so suited to her. She really knew this world and I told her, ‘You just have to be the person that you were when I first started looking at you on Instagram. That girl, that’s the girl that we need.’ And she was like, ‘OK.’ She knew exactly what to do.”
Cardi’s hard work has clearly been paying off, as it was announced last week that she has been nominated for 10 BET Hip Hop Awards. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper could potentially go home with awards for MVP of the Year, Hot Ticket Performer, Hustler of the Year, Best Collab, Single of the Year and more. She walked away with four awards last year.
Cardi is no stranger to awards or the controversy that may come from winning. Earlier this month, she addressed those who said she didn’t deserve her Grammy win for Album of the Year.
“Ya some grown a— men talking about dragging cardi cause I won a award for a bomb ass album,” Cardi said. “Mind you I myself promoted astroworld on my page when it came out and have a good relationship wit trav while ya some small d—k men talking bout draggginh a girl.” She continued, “So when I won a Grammy for it I didn’t have no words to say but when I went home I started reminiscing on what I went thru during that period I was like YEA B–H YOU DESERVE THIS S–T,” she added.
