Megan Thee Stallion has proven that she is a force to be reckoned with.
After releasing smash singles such as “Big Ole Freak,” “Cash Shit,” “Simon Says,” “Hot Girl Summer” and more, the rapper doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. While releasing these bangers, Megan has been hard at work on her debut album. In addition to that, she’s working on getting her degree from Texas Southern University.
For this year’s REVOLT Summit in Atlanta, Meg will be amongst many to bless the three-day event alongside other stars like T.I., Jeezy, Timbaland, Eboni K. Williams, Saweetie, Killer Mike, Swizz Beatz and more. In honor of Megan attending this year’s event, REVOLT TV has taken a moment to reflect on the Houston rapper’s career. Take a look at five reasons she’s the truth below.
1. Megan values education
Although the MC loves a good turn-up session, she also knows how to switch gears and get focused. While speaking with “Access Hollywood” at Beautycon L.A., Megan declared that she is in her third year at Texas Southern University where she is studying health administration. As “Hot Girl Summer” comes to a close, her studies will continue to be at the forefront with the introduction of “Hot Nerd Fall.”
”Being a hot girl is like a lifestyle and everyone knows I’m still in college,” Megan said. “It’s gonna be a real hot girl semester, you know what I’m saying? Real Hot Nerd Fall, so I’m just about to start puttin’ on for all my school girls.”
2. Megan uses her upbringing to her advantage
Growing up, Megan’s mom was a rapper, which resulted in the Houston native having an appreciation for music. During an interview with PAPER, she explained that her music career was bound to happen. Having the opportunity to watch her mother work relentlessly toward her dreams inspired Megan to have that same energy.
”I feel like off the strength that my mom was a rapper, and the music that her and my dad put in my ear as a child, it was bound to happen,” she revealed. “Me watching her write and me watching her go in the studio and lay her verses down. Just to see how dedicated she was, that was normal to me. That just became the thing that I saw around my house.”
The star continued, “We bumping Pimp C, we listening to Three 6 all the time, we listening to Biggie. You know what I’m saying? I’ve always been a big fan of music. Just me growing up and turning into Meg Thee Stallion, this is a product of my environment.”
3. Megan has an appreciation for other artists
During an Instagram Live session with Nicki Minaj, Megan expressed her love for the New York rapper and called her the GOAT. As a result, the successful conversation led to Minaj hopping on Megan’s “Hot Girl Summer” track, which became the first female rap collaboration to go No. 1 on iTunes USA. ”Stop playing with Nicki Minaj like she ain’t the motherf–king GOAT,” Megan stated on the Live. “Stop f–king playing with us, in the name of Jesus!”
4. Megan cares about the environment
Back in June, the “Big Ole Freak” spitter hosted her first “Hottie Beach Clean Up” which took place at Santa Monica Pier. Moving forward, Megan wants to continue finding beaches that are in need of a cleanup.
”It’s not all about driving the motherf–king boat,” the 24-year-old said to her fans. “We got s–t to do. We got s–t to save. Causes to motherf–king fulfill. I really want to help. We’re going to clean this motherf–king beach up, and then we’re gonna drive the boat.”
5. Megan Thee Stallion reportedly has a co-sign from JAY-Z
Quite frankly, getting a co-sign from hip hop’s first billionaire is a big deal. Last month, there was video footage of Megan and JAY chopping it up at a PUMA event. After the video went viral, fans were quick to point out that Megan has officially “made it.” Throughout Megan’s career, she has constantly said that she wants to work with Beyoncé. With this apparent co-sign, it’s safe to say that the sky is the limit.
