Travis Scott has no issue with Cardi B.
According to TMZ, despite what fans took away from the rapper’s Netflix documentary Look Mom I Can Fly, the Houston rapper doesn’t have any ill will towards Cardi winning the Grammy for Best Rap Album. Scott dropped his Netflix movie last Wednesday (Aug. 25) and in the film, there was a scene where he was visibly bothered by Cardi’s win back in February. Many of the rapper’s fans perceived his emotions as anger towards Cardi and even slammed her on social media.
Sources said that Travis’ reaction to Cardi’s win wasn’t personal. In fact, the emotions stemmed from the hard work he put into his Astroworld album, which was up against Cardi’s debut Invasion of Privacy.
Travis and Cardi have actually maintained a friendship following her win. Her husband Offset even made an appearance at the Netflix premiere for the documentary.
Nonetheless, the Bronx rapper took to social media last week to address the flak she received over her Grammy win. “Ya some grown ass men talking about dragging cardi cause I won a award for a bomb ass album,” Cardi tweeted. “Mind you I myself promoted astroworld on my page when it came out and have a good relationship wit trav while ya some small dick men talking bout draggging a girl.”
Days prior, she went on a Twitter rant explaining all she had to overcome just to complete her debut album. “When I kept seeing the certifications of the songs going gold or platinum I was so excited cause my husband was out here asking everybody for a feature on my behalf so the ones that said yes thank you from the bottom of my heart cause TRUST ME ALOT OF ARTIST SAID NO! OR CHARGING 6 figures for a feature,” she wrote.
Cardi continued, “So when I won a Grammy for it I didn’t have no words to say but when I went home I started reminiscing on what I went thru during that period I was like YEA B—H YOU DESERVE THIS S—T.”
Cardi even shared a co-sign from the late Nipsey Hussle, while reiterating that her win was deserved. Still, Scott’s fans relentlessly flooded her Twitter mentions arguing that he should have won instead. “Travis got robbed of a Grammy Astroworld was easily AOTY #LookMomICanFly,” one fan wrote. “This Travis Netflix doc has reignited my anger that Cardi B won a Grammy over Astroworld. To this day I still haven’t played that Cardi B album,” another fan tweeted.
