Tee Grizzley has broken his silence following the passing of his manager/aunt, Jobina “JB” Brown. The rapper took to his Instagram account on Friday (Aug. 23) and shared a video of Brown shyly smiling at the camera.
“Since I was 12,” he wrote in the caption. “We been going everywhere together how you gone go to heaven without me???? Idek what to say JB I just wanted to show the world yo smile I love you so much.”
He also posted a tweet on Saturday (Aug. 24) explaining why he hasn’t been active on social media. “I appreciate all the love I wasn’t ignoring y’all I just been speechless,” he said.
As previously reported, Tee was the target of a drive-by shooting in his hometown, Detroit, which left Brown dead. According to TMZ, law enforcement sources said that a gunman approached Grizzley’s Cadillac Escalade SUV and opened fire. The rapper’s manager/aunt was sitting in the back seat.
As the rapper exited the SUV, the gunman pulled the trigger hitting Brown on her left side. Sources reported that three to four shots were fired. Brown was rushed to the hospital shortly after, where she died from her wounds. She was 41 years old.
The “More Than Friends” rapper received support spanning across the hip hop community. T.I. took to Instagram and said, “They place the heaviest loads on the strongest backs… Our prayers & condolences lil bro… Stay strong… I’m here if you need me King.”
Canadian producer Murda Beatz also sent support to Grizzley via social media. “Prayers Up To Tee Grizzley And His Team,” he wrote.
Fetty Wap expressed his condolences, “She watching over you now bro keep showin out for her.” PnB Rock also tweeted, “YOU GOT A HELLUVA ANGEL NOW BRO.”
