A few days following what would’ve been his 34th birthday, Nipsey Hussle’s team announces the release date for his PUMA collaboration.
As per the announcement, which was posted to Instagram yesterday (Aug. 19), Hussle put a lot of detail into the project before his untimely death. Neighborhood Nip was involved with the material, color-way, fit, design and more. While creating the collaboration, Hussle handled it with the utmost care and passion.
“Our team is proud to announce that our first collaborative capsule with Puma drops on September 5th 2019,” the post begins. “Nipsey spearheaded this project from concept to final product over the course of last year, flying to meetings, reviewing samples, bringing in material references he liked, and most importantly ensuring that it reflected his style authentically with no compromise. Each detail from logo placement, fit, colorways, and materials was thoughtfully done. His signature style and DNA can be found in each garment that’s part of this collection from the khaki suit to the tracksuit.”
Back in May, PUMA’s Brand and Marketing Global Director, Adam Petrick, stated that The Victory Lap rapper’s collection would still be released as planned. In a statement, Petrick shared that he would continue to work with Hussle’s family to execute the slain musician’s vision.
“We’ll work with his family and we’ll support his kids,” Petrick stated. “We’re going to continue to release some product that we’ve created with him. We’ve also got some charity activations that we’ll do to support what he was doing in Crenshaw, and trying to continue the work that he was doing through his foundation.”
More recently, Hussle’s team announced that a Nipsey Hussle Tower was in the process of being built. The upcoming tower will be a representation of Hussle’s core values.
