It’s safe to say that Beyoncé is a dedicated entertainer. The “Spirit” singer reveals how she got back into shape for her headlining performance at last year’s Coachella.
In a video uploaded on YouTube yesterday (July 24), Queen Bey states that she embarked on a plant-based diet. At the beginning of the video, the 37-year-old songstress admits being afraid of the scale before weighing in at 175 pounds. Bey explained that after giving birth to her twins, Rumi and Sir Carter, her body felt different. The two-minute video shows her trainer, Marco Borges, explaining the benefits of his 22 Days Nutrition program.
“We know the power of vegetables, we know the power of plants, we know the power of foods that aren’t processed and are as close to nature as possible,” Marco explained. “Plant base is really about eliminating all the overly processed foods that don’t do us any good anyways. When you’re eating plant-based you will definitely have more energy, you will definitely sleep better, you will definitely have improved complexion and your mood’s going to change completely.”
Hard work and sacrifice paid off, so much so that fans cite Coachella as one of Bey’s best performances. Back in April, Beyoncé released her 137-minute film, Homecoming, which highlighted the effort that went into creating her two-hour headlining set. In the documentary, Beyoncé explains cutting out sugar, fish, bread, carbs, meat, alcohol, and dairy from her diet.
In other Beyoncé-related news, she recently dropped her LP, The Lion King: The Gift. The album serves as a soundtrack to the Jon Favreau-directed film, The Lion King, which Beyoncé plays the role of Nala.
“This soundtrack is a love letter to Africa, and I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa, and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it,” she said.
