Tuesday (June 18) marks the one-year anniversary of the death of XXXTentacion, a tragic loss that, much like his life, caused division among hip hop fans.

While his history of alleged domestic abuse did not halt his ascent to fame, the rapper’s perspective, music, criminal cases, charity efforts and overall controversial legacy continues to be discussed.

As fans took to social media to mourn the anniversary of the loss and weigh in on the undeniable impact XXXTentacion had made during his short life, the late rapper’s team shared a trailer for an upcoming documentary centering around his career.

The trailer for the official documentary was shared on the rapper’s Instagram account with a caption announcing the still-untitled film is “coming soon.”

“All I can do is give you my pain and you feed all night to keep you alive,” XXXTentacion can be heard saying in a voiceover accompanying archived footage. Later on, he explains how this will be the final time his story will be told, noting that there is a difference between the artist known as XXXTentacion and the man known as Jahseh Onfroy, his government name.

“This is the full story and this is the last time I will tell it,” he says.

A year ago to the date, XXXTentacion was shot and killed in Deerfield Beach, Fla., while sitting in his vehicle. The 20-year-old was reportedly outside of a motorcycle dealership when two armed suspects approached his car and opened fire.

Since the rapper was fatally shot, with the incident also being captured on video, prosecutors have since arrested and charged four men with first degree murder and armed robbery with a firearm. Earlier this year, one of the suspects, Michael Boatwright, accused prosecutors of not turning over all of the evidence in the highly publicized case. In related news, X’s girlfriend, Jenesis Sanchez gave birth to his son, Gekyume Onfroy, on January 26, 2019.
