Cardi B’s rise to fame has been cemented in a handful of powerful factors, including her ability to resonate with fans, her versatile talent and, of course, her vibrant personality. However, her business savvy must also be celebrated as she finds new ways to further develop her personal brand.
From earning $1 million in sales the first 24-hours after her new Fashion Nova collection launched to leading the pack in 2019 BET Award nominations, the Bronx rapper’s ascent to the top continues to thrive. As reported on Wednesday (May 22), Cardi is now looking to return to her roots in television.
According to TMZ, Bardi has filed legal documents to own the title, “Bocktails with Cardi B.” According to the filing, she is seeking “entertainment services in the nature of providing ongoing episodes for distribution via television and the Internet featuring celebrities and artists.”
However, in addition to the potential television series, Cardi B is also looking for exclusivity over the name on apparel, including t-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, hats, caps, footwear, skirts, dresses, blouses, sweaters, pants and shorts. She is also requesting that the phrase be used for “alcoholic beverages, except beer and beverages containing beer.”
The filing arrives a couple months after Cardi reportedly filed a trademark for her signature slogan, “Okurr.” While the rapper, entertainer and proud mom hasn’t revealed any details regarding her upcoming projects, it’s safe to say she’s got plenty up her sleeve next.
In related news, the 26-year-old chose to cancel the remainder of her May concert dates due to complications stemming from recent plastic surgery procedures. According to reports, her doctors are recommending she give her body time to rest and fully recover before gracing the stage again.
In true Cardi fashion, she opened up about having liposuction done recently, telling the crowd at the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis about what she was going through.
“I should have canceled today,” she said at the time. “I shouldn’t really be performing because moving too much is gonna f–k up my lipo. But b—h, I’m still gonna get my motherf–king money back, let’s go!”
Hopefully, Cardi B will be ready to go in time for her scheduled performance at Hot 97’s 2019 Summer Jam, which is set to take place in New Jersey on June 2.
