Kid Cudi is a lifelong movie buff and isn’t shy from sharing his interest in film with fans.
Over the weekend, the Ohio native went to check out Jordan Peele’s latest horror film, Us, which has already racked up an impressive opening weekend. As reported, the film landed the second-best opening weekend of 2019, just shy of Captain Marvel. To help further support the acclaimed director, Kid Cudi decided to see the movie a second time, buying out a theater in the Los Angeles area and extending an invite to his fans.
“Go see Us. Im tellin u. Well done!” the reputed recording artist praised on Twitter on Friday (March 22). “The great one does it again @JordanPeele!! MUST see multiple times in theaters #UsMovie total mind f*ck arghhhhh. Please go see this movie! Congrats to the whole cast!”
After bigging up Us and congratulating the cast on social media, Kudi decided to surprise fans in Glendale, Calif., with the opportunity to soak in Peele’s latest masterpiece with him. The rapper took to Twitter to share instructions on how to join in, inviting fans to bring an official Cudi merchandise item or a physical copy of one of his items to the theater in exchange for a free ticket. This way, Cudi could help ensure his core fans were the ones who joined in on the fun.
The film stars Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke, both of whom starred in Marvel’s Black Panther, and centers around a family whose peace is interrupted by a group of doppelgängers who begins to terrorize and attack them. The film marks Peele’s sophomore offering, following 2017’s Get Out and has been widely discussed on social media since its release this past weekend.
Cudi documented the special screening, sharing a video of himself in a packed theater on Twitter. The G.O.O.D Music artist previously rented out a theater to host a special screening of 2016’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
