Jordan Peele’s latest film Us is beating out early projections after having a fantastic opening night.

Before its release on Friday (Mar. 22), the thriller starring Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke was expected to gross $38 million to $50 million opening weekend. But after making $28 million Friday night, Deadline is now reporting that the film will make $68 million by the end of the weekend. This includes the $7.4 million the film made in preview viewings on Thursday night.

If the Jordan Peele-directed film ends the weekend making $60 million or better, it will become the best opening weekend for an original horror movie and the highest opening weekend for an original R-rated film ever. Us is also projected to become the second-highest grossing opening of the year so far after Captain Marvel ($153.4M). The odds are in Peele’s favor as Us currently has a 95% positive review on Rotten Tomatoes.

So far, the film has already made back their production budget of $20 million and is quickly expected to surpass Peele’s directorial debut Get Out which made $33 million its opening weekend before going on to make $176 million during its theatrical run.

Us is also expected to be a huge hit overseas thanks to several of openings in international markets like France, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
