NBA player Nick Young claims he missed out on his chance with Rihanna.

During the first-ever episode of the “Certified Buckets” podcast with Young, Chiney Ogwumike, and Sarunas J. Jackson, he explained that he almost shot his shot at Rihanna. Apparently, Rihanna was sitting courtside and watched Young play during a Lakers game back in 2014. The NBA player said that he didn’t want to mess things up with Iggy Azalea, whom he had just started dating, so he decided not to pursue something with Rihanna.

“I had a good game, so [the reporters] asked me why… and I said, you know, Rihanna was there,” he said. Nick said that Rihanna hit him up afterwards, but he didn’t follow through because he was in the “beginning stages” of his relationship with Iggy at that point. “She hit me back, but I couldn’t go full throttle with it because I was in the beginning stages of my relationship with [Iggy],” he explained.

Jackson, who stars on HBO’s “Insecure,” responded to Young’s reveal and said, “You could’ve been King of Barbados! You could have been first man of Barbados right now!” Nick then added, “I think I did pretty good, though. It worked out for a little bit.”

Young and Iggy began dating in November 2013 and announced their engagement in June 2015. However, Iggy announced in June 2016 that the two had split following a video that leaked, which showed Nick having a conversation about cheating on Iggy with former teammate D’Angelo Russell.

In other Rihanna-related news, it looks like she is on good terms with her ex Chris Brown. She uploaded a video to social media displaying five of her Fenty Beauty lipglosses with Brown’s record “Come Together” playing in the background. Brown reposted Rihanna’s video on his Instagram Story, along with two praying hand emojis and a smiley face with hearts.
