Looks like the holiday spirit of love and taking care of each other has spread into 2019. Earlier today (Jan. 4), A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and Tory Lanez took to Instagram to support their fellow artist by signing a petition to support Daniel Hernandez aka Tekashi 6ix9ine. #Free6ix9ine,” A Boogie shared with a link to the petition.
The petition, created by fan William Cornish, exists to help 6ix9ine during his legal troubles. At press time, the petition had reached over 10,000 signatures in five days with a new goal now set to collect 15,000. “We want him home, his Attorney’s [sic] are aware of it and WILL be using it in his defense,” the fan shared on Change.Org’s website.
After being taken into custody and facing six federal charges, related to firearms and racketeering in November 2018, 6ix9ine decided to postpone new music to focus on his legal situation. And it looks like even though he won’t be releasing anything for a while, fans and industry peers alike are working to support the Brooklyn rapper however they can.
XXL also reported that at the moment, 6ix9ine’s attorney Lance Lazarro is putting together a $1.5 million bail package with the hopes of convincing the judge to release the rapper from the federal detention center at his next hearing on Jan. 22. 6ix9ine’s federal trial is expected to begin on Sept. 4, 2019.
The rapper’s first “Breakfast Club” interview was listed as one of the radio show’s top major 2018 moments that went viral. “I plead guilty like this quick, blood. I was scared, blood. I didn’t have no money. I was poor,” he shared on the show during his second visit. “Listen, I was rapping. But, I wasn’t on some hot shit.” Only time will tell if the petition will work in favor of this controversial rapper.
