Operating perfectly when working alongside another creative is no easy task. As exemplified by brothers Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee — also known as the duo Rae Sremmurd — when a partnership in music works, it can work exceptionally well.
However, even those who are seemingly at the top of their game creatively can experience turbulence. Recently, in a series of now-deleted tweets, Slim Jxmmi hinted that the group would be breaking up for undisclosed reasons.
After borrowing a line from Offset’s playbook and tweeting, “Y’all won,” the dynamic vocalist announced his own solo project, further adding to the speculation that the beloved duo would be no more. “I’m not Rae Sremmurd I’m slim jxmmi and ima sink or swim by myself,” he concluded.
Eventually, the group’s social media page decided to address the situation and clear up any rumors regarding their possible demise. As posted on Saturday (Jan. 12), the duo simply shared, “Brothers gonna be brothers, it’s SREMMLIFE forever.”
While it remains unclear what sparked the potential tension between the two siblings, fans are relieved to hear that the group is not going anywhere and will remain together.
According to Swae Lee, their upcoming collective effort, SREMMLIFE 4, is slated to drop sometime this year. He commented with confidence it will be a “classic.”
Their latest studio album, SR3MM, arrived in 2018. The project featured the debut solo albums by each member of the duo, as well as an album featuring their work together. The album featured guest appearances from the likes of Juicy J, Travis Scott, Future, Pharrell, Young Thug and The Weeknd, among others.
