Days after Chance the Rapper made his acting debut in a new horror film, his fellow Chicagoan Vic Mensa has announced he’s next in line.
As reported, the 25-year-old rapper is set to make his television debut in a new episode of the sitcom Rel. The Fox show stars comedian Lil Rel Howery, who is best known for his roles in Get Out and The Carmichael Show, as well as Sinbad, Jordan L. Jones and Jessica Moore (a.k.a. Jess Hilarious).
The episode featuring Mensa is titled “Laundry Room” and is set to air Sept. 30 on Fox at 9:30 p.m.
Mensa’s character, ManMan, is described as an “outwardly tough, swaggering gang leader who occupies the laundry room in Rel’s building for his gang meeting [and] brags about his crimes on Instagram Live.” During the episode, ManMan will be going head-to-head with Rel, with the two arguing about the “virtue of gangs,” among other hot topics.
The show’s premise follows the story of Rel, a recently divorced father of two who is trying to find his way.
“Lil Rel is creating a new platform for Chicago comedy in an authentic, intelligent way,” Vic Mensa shared with Complex. “When he asked me to be on an episode based off of my favorite stand-up bit of his, I was psyched.”
