All eyes were on The City of Brotherly Love last night (April 25) as Meek Mill was released from prison after serving five months. The Philadelphia rhyme king headed straight to the Wells Fargo Center for the Philadelphia 76ers playoff game, where he was joined by his friends, members of his Dream Chasers family, his son Papi and Kevin Hart.
Everyone from Jay-Z to New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft weighed in, and last night after he got off the radio at Hot 97, Fat Joe spoke to REVOLT TV about the release of the MMG cornerstone.
“Shout out Meek Mill, shout out the whole Philly for doing the right thing, standing up,” Joe said. “Shout out to the hip-hop community standing up. The man was in jail unjustly anyway. We need to check out this criminal system. The guy Travis Reinking went to the White House with four machine guns, AR-15s. They gave it back. He killed four people in the Tennessee Waffle House. Meek Mill went to jail for popping a wheelie. Like c’mon my nigga. We gotta stop this.”
This morning, Joe called for people to continue to rally behind those who have suffered “injustices,” and continued to show love and support for Meek.
“This is what I care about, our kids need their fathers especially a hard working man that provides for many,” Joe said under a post of Meek and his young son on Instagram. “I’m proud of how our people stood together for @meekmill now let’s continue the fight for the voiceless many who have endured many injustices. s/o to Des and Jay and the whole Roc Nation. God is great.”
